I thought it was interesting that yesterday the Wall Street Journal reported that "economists are nearly unanimous that Ben Bernanke should be reappointed to another term" and that the majority also "say the recession is over." Who exactly are these economists, I wonder. Let's just hope they are better at predicting the economy than Bernanke himself!

Chew on this: Small investors have a huge advantage over the Oracle of Omaha. While his returns may be limited because of the sheer size of his company, the typical individual faces no such limitation. This blog is about applying the wisdom of the Oracle to the small portfolio.
I am a doctoral student of finance at the University of Missouri. Over four semesters, as part of my duties as a graduate assistant, I have been fortunate to teach a course called "The Investment Strategy of Warren Buffett", sponsored by MU alumnus and benefactor Harvey Eisen. After taking over the course in the Summer of 2005, I helped organize the school's first ever trip to meet Mr. Buffett in Omaha. The trip and course prompted several articles in local media and eventually our inclusion in the 2006 CNBC documentary "Warren Buffett: The Billionaire Next Door." I established this blog in response the overwhelming interest generated by this press. But more importantly, I maintain this blog because I enjoy writing and I enjoy thinking. I therefore welcome comments, suggestions or even special requests. Thanks for visting.
